NATO condemned Russia’s violation of Romanian airspace during the night when Ukrainian territory was shelled.

NATO called the incident with a Russian drone on Romanian territory irresponsible and potentially dangerous. This is what NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane said at Platform X on Sunday, September 8.

“NATO condemns Russia’s overnight violation of Romanian airspace,” Joane wrote.

He noted that although the Alliance has no information confirming a deliberate Russian attack on NATO allies, such actions are “irresponsible and potentially dangerous.”

It should be noted that on the night of September 8, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with four X-59 guided aircraft missiles and 23 Shahed drones. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 15 drones and one missile, the command of the Ukrainian Air Force reported. Two other Russian drones were “locally lost” and were likely suppressed by electronic warfare.

Also during the night attack, a group of suicide bombers flew into Romania.

Subsequently, Romania strongly condemned “another violation” of its airspace by a Russian drone during the shelling of Ukraine on the night of September 8.
