According to the latest data, the vice president leads his Republican opponent by four to six percentage points.
Following the Democratic National Convention, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris remains just a few points ahead of her opponent, Donald Trump. The Hill reported this on Sunday, September 1.
The publication refers to the results of a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released on Sunday, September 1.
According to them, Harris leads Trump by four percentage points – 50% to 46% among all adults and registered voters. However, when it comes to likely voters, Harris leads Trump by a margin of 52% to 46%.
At the same time, sociologists said, Harris widened the gender gap. The vice president led Trump by 13 points among women, 54% to 41%, while Trump led by five points among men, 51% to 46%. Before the convention, Harris led Trump by 6 points among women.
The vice president also had the best performance in voters’ campaign assessments. According to the poll, 56% of Americans said he did a good or excellent job in his campaign. About 41% said the same about Trump, while the majority had a more negative view of the campaign.
At the same time, Trump leads Harris by 8 points in terms of trust on key issues, including the economy and inflation. He also leads Harris by 9 points on resolving the US-Mexico border situation.
People view the vice president as more trustworthy than Trump when it comes to defending American democracy and Supreme Court appointments, according to the poll.
“The poll follows several other polls showing Harris holding a narrow lead over Trump, who has largely denied the vice president’s support has risen,” The Hill wrote.
The ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted August 23-27 and included 2,496 completed interviews. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2.1 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
Sociologists note that these results are similar and not statistically different from the previous survey conducted in August. According to an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll taken before the convention, Harris has 49% support among registered voters, while Trump has 45%.
It was previously reported that Harris was leading or running alongside Trump in each of the seven key states.
We remind you that the US Democratic Party Convention on August 20 officially approved Vice President Kamala Harris as its presidential candidate in the upcoming November elections.
