The explosion that rocked the Omsk oil refinery on Monday disabled almost half of the plant’s capacity.
Reuters reports this, citing a source familiar with the situation.
According to the agency’s source, as a result of the incident, the most productive primary oil refining unit at the plant, AVT-11, was damaged and shut down.
According to analysts, under sanctions, restoring it will be a very difficult task.
An explosion and fire broke out at the Omsk Gazprom Neft plant on the morning of August 26. Plant representatives said the fire had allegedly been brought under control.
The Omsk refinery is one of the largest such plants in Russia and produces 21.6 million tons of oil per year. Its products are mainly sold to the domestic market and Kazakhstan.
