Washington will talk to Kiev about such attacks privately, assured John Kirby.
The United States will continue to discuss with Ukraine in a non-public format the issue of lifting restrictions on long-term strikes against Russia. This was said by the coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, journalist Alex Raufoglu reports in X.
The official noted that the Ukrainian head of state has previously, both privately and publicly, called for the lifting of such restrictions. And the United States understands that he is doing this because his country is being attacked.
“However, and I’ve said this several times, we will continue to negotiate with the Ukrainians, but only privately,” Kirby said.
According to him, he is not authorized to speak about any change in US policy on this issue.
As is known, earlier the Pentagon explained the ban on strikes deep in the Russian Federation by the fact that Russia in the future may respond to the crossing of “red lines.”
