After the start of the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region, the United States began to believe that the advantage was on the side of Ukraine.
Americans believe that Ukraine is winning now, but regarding the outcome of the war, their opinions are equally divided. This is confirmed by a new YouGov poll, The Hill wrote on Friday, August 23.
Today, 22% of US citizens polled are inclined to believe that Ukraine has won. 16% believe that the advantage is on the side of Russia. At the same time, 34% said that neither side is winning, the remaining 28% found it difficult to answer.
Americans have had mixed views since Russia invaded Ukraine, but in recent weeks more Americans believe Ukraine’s advantage is growing.
In June, only 11% of Americans believed Ukraine would win, while 22% believed Russia would win. And in April, only 10% of Americans believed in Ukraine’s victory over Russia.
The poll came after President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had captured the Russian town of Sudzha in a lightning cross-border invasion. Before this, Ukrainian troops attacked Russian air bases with drones and missiles.
Although the poll showed that Americans believe Ukraine is doing well, they are evenly divided on who will win the war.
23% of respondents believe that Russia will ultimately win, and the same number believe that Ukraine will win.
The survey also shows that a quarter of respondents (25%) believe that the United States should increase military aid to Ukraine. 27% think military aid should be kept at current levels, while 28% think the US should cut aid.
The survey was conducted August 17-20 among 1,565 Americans and has a margin of error of 3%.
We remind you that US presidential candidate Kamala Harris promised on the last day of the Democratic National Convention that if she wins the election she will continue to support Ukraine and NATO.
Also on Saturday, the United States announced a new $125 million aid package for Ukraine.
