Experts say that there is no reason to panic and that a new pandemic is not expected in the world, despite the fact that the routes of transmission of infection have not been fully studied.

The first case of monkeypox outside of Africa was recorded in Sweden. The patient was infected during a trip to Africa. This was reported by The Telegraph in connection with a statement by the Swedish authorities.

“In Sweden there is currently confirmation of a case of the more threatening subspecies of mpox, called Clade 1,” Swedish Minister of Health and Social Affairs Jakob Forsmed told a press conference.

On August 14, the WHO declared the spread of monkeypox a “public health emergency of international concern.”

Experts say there is no reason to panic and a new global pandemic does not threaten us. However, since the risk of spreading exists, and the routes of transmission of this disease have not been sufficiently studied, the WHO considers it necessary to control the situation.

Note that since September 2023, the outbreak of this disease has been observed in Africa. During this period, 13 thousand cases of infection were recorded there, more than 400 people died.

Symptoms: fever, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and after a few days a rash appears on the body. It usually takes two to four weeks for complete recovery, but complications can occur.
The main route of infection in African countries is contact with diseased rodents and wild animal meat. The disease can also be transmitted after contact with the rash (with a patient), for example during intercourse.
