The collapse of the movement was the result of a large-scale transfer of troops to the Kursk region, including from remote regions, where almost all available locomotives were used.
After the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered the Kursk region, Russian railways faced the collapse of transport in the regions bordering Ukraine and Belarus. Stations are full of abandoned trains, all resources are aimed at moving troops. This was stated in the message of the Belarusian Railway Workers’ Community.
It was noted that on Monday, August 12, Russian Railways (RZD) sent a telegram to Belarusian Railways (BZD) about the impossibility of receiving trains at the station of the Oryol-Kursk branch of the Moscow Railway. The next day, August 13, Russian Railways submitted a similar requirement for trains traveling from Belarus to the Smolensk region.
The reason for the decision in Russian Railways is the overcrowding of stations with abandoned trains, as well as the lack of traction (locomotives and drivers to remove them).
The report, citing sources, states that the drop in traffic is the result of a large-scale transfer of troops to the Kursk region, including from remote regions, where almost all available locomotives were used.
“Our sources report that the lack of traction in the described situation is caused by the Russian authorities conducting a large-scale operation of the transfer of troops in the direction of the Kursk region and the redeployment of a significant part of fleet of freight locomotives of the Moscow Railway for military transport from the central part of Russia At the same time, some sources inform that the withdrawal of armed forces is carried out from almost all regions, and even from in regions that are relatively remote or logistically complicated, the statement said.
Belarusian railway workers say that it is clear that such movements will not happen without the participation of the railway.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation is moving troops from the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporozhye to the Kursk region.
Lithuania also reported that after the start of fighting in the Kursk region, Russia moved military personnel there from the Kaliningrad region.
