Malian rebels say they have received no funding or advice from Ukraine.
Malian Tuareg rebels say they have no foreign support for the operation, which has killed and wounded dozens of soldiers and mercenaries from the Russian private military company Wagner. Reuters reported this on Thursday, August 15, citing a Tuareg statement.
According to Rebel alliance spokesman Elmaulud Ramadan, no external help was brought in to deal with the Russians.
“We can clearly say that we did not receive external help for the fight in Tinzauaten,” said Elmauloud.
Asked if Ukraine had previously helped the rebel movement financially or with training, Ramadan said: “No, we have not received any help from Ukraine.”
Let’s recall that at the end of July in Mali, Tuareg rebels killed and wounded dozens of Wagner PMC fighters.
After that, the GUR said that the local rebels “received the necessary information and not only information that made it possible to conduct a successful military operation against Russian war criminals.”
Soon after, Mali and then Niger broke diplomatic relations with Ukraine.
