Israel has warned France of potential threats from Iran-backed groups against Israeli athletes and tourists during the Paris Olympics.
Three Israeli athletes competing at the Olympics in France received emails threatening to kill the athletes. The French prosecutor’s office launched an investigation. AFP wrote this on Sunday, July 28.
On behalf of Paris Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, the national body for combating online hatred will investigate the incident.
The investigation did not establish any connection between the threats and Iran or any other foreign state in confrontation with Israeli authorities.
French police are known to provide Israeli athletes with 24-hour personal protection in the Olympic Village and on trips to Olympic venues.
France launched a massive operation to protect the Olympics, involving around 18 thousand military personnel in addition to regular police.
The day before, unknown persons sent a letter with the plague virus to the French Ministry of Internal Affairs named after the head of the department, Gerald Darmanin.
It will be remembered that the Hezbollah group launched a missile attack on the Golan Heights. Bullets exploded in the Majdal Shams area and killed at least 10 people.
