Until now, the Russian Federation has not attacked a NATO member, but has only threatened, invaded and occupied neutral countries.

More than one and a half hundred scientists from leading universities in Europe, the USA and other countries of the world addressed NATO with an open letter, in which they called on Ukraine to join the Alliance as soon as possible period. The Guardian writes about this on Sunday, July 28.

Scientists prove their opinion by the fact that the entry of Ukraine into the Defense Alliance “will not create any additional incentives for the aggressive actions of the Kremlin, because Russia is already determined to destroy Ukraine and does not need additional motivation for it.”

The authors of the document emphasized that so far the Russian Federation has not attacked a NATO member, but has threatened, attacked and occupied only neutral countries.

“Inviting Ukraine to NATO is a step towards the supremacy of international law and protection of human rights,” said an open letter signed by 158 researchers from around the world.

They noted that Russia’s reaction to the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO was relatively calm.

“This proves that Russia opposes Ukraine’s membership in NATO only because it will prevent further aggression against this country,” the researchers said.

As you know, on July 9-11, at the NATO summit in Washington, a decision was made to increase the presence of the Alliance in Ukraine, in particular, to appoint a special representative in Kyiv.
