The Georgian State Security Service has announced an investigation into “preparation for the murder” of oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) is investigating “preparations for the assassination” of the honorary head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. This was said by the Georgian special service.
The State Security Service claims that preparations for Ivanishvili’s assassination were “organized and financed by former Georgian government officials and former Ukrainian law enforcement officials.”
“The purpose of the aforementioned criminal actions is to overthrow the country’s authorities by violent means against the backdrop of creating chaos and weakening power,” the statement said.
The department added that active investigative and operational search activities are carried out in the criminal case, within the framework of which the investigation calls “specific individuals” for questioning as witnesses.
