The German defense concern Rheinmetall received an order from the Ukrainian government to build an ammunition plant, announced in February 2024. This was reported by the press service of Rheinmetall on Wednesday, July 24.

Construction is planned to begin soon and will be completed within a few years.
Ammunition production in Ukraine is expected to begin within 24 months.
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said: “We keep our word and, together with our partner, will create a Ukrainian ammunition production center. This order emphasizes trust in the expertise and production capability of Rheinmetall.
In June 2024, Papperger and the Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin signed an agreement to expand strategic cooperation.
A few days earlier, an armored tank plant was opened in western Ukraine, operated by a joint venture LLC Ukroboronprom Rheinmetall. The first Lynx infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) from Rheinmetall is planned to be delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the end of this year, and local production will begin soon.
