The strike came a day after a Houthi drone attacked Tel Aviv, killing one person and wounding at least 10 others, CNN reported.
IDF fighter jets recently struck military targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the area of the port of Hudaydah in Yemen in response to hundreds of attacks carried out against the State of Israel in recent months, the Israel Defense Forces said.
It is noted that this statement was made shortly after the Houthi-controlled Al Masirah TV channel reported airstrikes on oil facilities in Al-Hudaydah, adding that there were deaths and injuries.
Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam said the Israeli strikes hit civilian targets, oil tanks and a power plant.
An Israeli defense official told CNN that the strike was entirely Israeli. The official noted that Israel had previously allowed the US and UK to take the lead in responding to Houthi attacks, but this time it decided to respond itself because of the death of an Israeli citizen in Tel Aviv.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is said to have informed his American counterpart Lloyd Austin about the strike before it was launched.
