The press service of the Presidential Office reported this today, July 19.
The document will allow the launch of Ukrainian-British projects in this area. In particular, this concerns the supply and repair and partial production of air defense systems, armored vehicles, and ammunition, the statement says.
It is noted that the agreement provides that British suppliers will be able to conclude loan agreements and contracts with Ukraine worth 2 billion pounds sterling.
This amount is not final and may be increased in the future, the President’s Office notes.
It is expected that by 2026, this will make it possible, in particular:
- provide the Ukrainian Defense Forces with air defense and radar and strike systems;
- obtain technologies and master partial production of barrels, spare parts and components for artillery installations and Western-style armored vehicles.
Due to the need for rapid development of capabilities and the high cost of defense projects, Ukraine cannot currently finance them from its state budget. The loan repayment period is 15 years, the Presidential Office notes.
