In Poland, the prosecutor’s office is investigating a crime directed against the deputy chairman of the Joint Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, Pavel Latushko, under articles of the Criminal Code related to murder and activities of foreigners intelligence network. It was reported by Reuters.
According to the spokesman of the National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland, Przemyslaw Nowak, the investigation is being conducted jointly with officials from the Polish Internal Security Agency, based in the city of Lodz.
According to a letter from the prosecutor’s office named Latushko, obtained by the publication, the investigation is under the sections of the Polish Criminal Code related to inciting others to commit a crime, the activities of foreigners intelligence and assassination service.
Latushko himself said that in the past six months he and other leaders of the Belarusian opposition have often received threats.
“We have also recently recorded the intensification of attempts to put pressure on specific members of our team… by individuals who represent KGB officers using methods of bribery, blackmail and threats of violence against relatives and friends of our team members,” he noted.
