The arrangement of an additional nuclear power plant unit has a significant impact on the situation in the energy system, as most units have a capacity of 1 GW, and at times of peak consumption the deficit is up to 3 GW.
Ukraine’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that electrical engineers are trying to reduce the time required to repair the power units of nuclear power plants (NPP), where nuclear safety issues allow it. He said this in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, July 19.
The nuclear power generation repair campaign is planned so that all nuclear power plant units in government-controlled territory will operate during the fall-winter period.
Galushchenko added that repair times are reduced without threatening nuclear and radiation safety.
“We are trying to reduce the time as much as possible to quickly reload the fuel and put the units into action,” he assured.
The minister also added that the arrangement of additional nuclear power units has a significant impact on the situation in the energy system, as most units have a capacity of 1 GW, and at times of peak consumption the deficit is up to 3 GW .
We remind you that in at least three regions of Ukraine, blackout schedules have been canceled.
Earlier, Galushchenko said that as a result of Russia’s continued occupation, the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is deteriorating and after it returns to Ukrainian control, it will take years to resume and restart it.
