The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) this Wednesday, July 17, started the case against the representative of the people and his accomplice, who were accused of trying to bribe high officials in the field of reconstruction. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
“On July 17, 2024, a panel of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice began a hearing on the merits of the case against the current representative of the people and his accomplice, who were exposed for giving undue benefits to the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Chairman of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine,” the message said.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 14.
The message does not name the people’s representative, but the Interfax-Ukraine agency states that the person involved in the case is the Ukrainian politician and businessman, the people’s representative Sergei Labazyuk, and his accomplice is the director of the private company UAR Di Ukrainian Roads Denis. Nazimov.
On May 21, 2024, the SAPO prosecutor sent a court case against Labazyuk and Nazimov, who were exposed for giving undue benefits to the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – the Minister of Development of Communities , Territory and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Chairman of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
As reported, Labazyuk, in agreement with the director of the joint-stock company, offered top officials a bribe for the allocation of 1 billion Hryvnias in additional financing for the work carried out by the company under their control . The proposed bribe amount should be from 3% to 5% of the financing amount.
In November last year, Labazyuk was released from the pre-trial detention center on bail of UAH 40.26 million.
