In addition, storms, tempests and thunderstorms left 166 settlements in Zakarpattia and Lviv region without electricity.
Power engineers have restored the equipment that failed yesterday at one of the power facilities. Emergency shutdowns have been cancelled in all regions. Hourly shutdown schedules are currently in effect.
On July 17, regional power companies will apply consumption restrictions throughout the day. According to the forecast, today the heat will remain at its maximum level (see picture), and accordingly, consumption is also forecast at a record level, which significantly exceeds the capacity of Ukrainian power plants to cover it.
Due to increased consumption due to heat, four phases of power outages will be in effect from 11:00 to 22:00.
From 22:00 to 00:00 there will be three queues.
The significant energy deficit in the Ukrainian energy system is the result of 8 Russian massive attacks on energy facilities since the beginning of the year. As a result, the country lost 9 GW of production capacity of Ukrainian power plants. This capacity is equal to the consumption in the summer peak hours of such European countries as the Netherlands, Finland or together with Slovakia and the Baltic states.
Ukrenergo reminded that consumers in each region who are not included in the list of critical infrastructure facilities are divided into 6 queues (groups). The application of restrictions to three queues means that hourly outages are applied to half of the consumers in each region at the same time. If more than three queues of schedules are applied, the restrictions apply to a larger number of consumers. Information about the outage schedules in each region can be found on the websites of regional energy companies or on their pages on social networks.
Due to abnormal heat and increased consumption in Europe, imports will remain at a reduced level. It is planned to import 24959 MWh from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary during the day, with a maximum capacity of 1271 MW.
Due to military action, power was cut off in Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.
For technical reasons, consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Odessa and Chernihiv regions were de-energized. The technical reasons for the shutdown are related to the impact of heat on high-voltage equipment and power lines.
