This is stated in the statement of European Solidarity.
The trip was planned for the Republican Convention in Milwaukee, where the party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be elected.
Poroshenko, his party mate Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze (head of the Rada’s European Integration Committee), as well as MPs Maria Ionova and Irina Gerashchenko received an invitation to the Convention.
However, as the EU claims, the mission has not been signed.
Obviously, this is an order from Bankova to block our participation in an important event of the Republican Party. We had a busy program, which included short meetings with the candidate for President and Vice President of the United States, and party leaders. In Washington, we had planned meetings with Democrats. We regard these actions by the authorities as deliberate harm to interparty Ukrainian-American relations. The program of the EU delegation in Milwaukee was busy, including participation in a meeting of the delegation of the International Democratic Union with candidates for the positions of President (Trump) and Vice President of the United States, the statement says.
The party recalled that Poroshenko, as the fifth president of Ukraine, has successful experience working with President Trump.
The first Javelins, the first naval boats, the beginning of negotiations on the Petrot systems and Apache helicopters, the Pompeo Declaration on the American policy of non-recognition of the attempted annexation of Crimea – this is far from a complete list.
In the fall of 2023, Bankova no longer allowed Poroshenko to meet with the Republicans.
