Donald Trump was shot with an AR-15 rifle, one of the most common types of weapons in the United States.

New York Times photographer Doug Mills may have captured the bullet flying past the former president’s head. Retired FBI Special Agent Michael Garrigan confirmed to the publication that the photograph may indeed depict a gunshot.
The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, has never been held administratively or criminally liable. He also has not yet voted in the presidential elections, which he was entitled to do for the first time.
Crooks was a Republican supporter, but in 2021 he donated $15 million under the Democratic platform ActBlue to the Progressive Turnout Project.
Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022. In addition to his diploma, he received a $500 “star award” from the National Initiative for the Study of Mathematics and Science.
After the assassination attempt on Trump, a video allegedly filmed by Thomas Crooks was circulated on social media and in the media. A guy with long white hair said on camera that he “hates Republicans and Trump,” adding: “You got the wrong guy.” BBC journalist Shayan Sardarizade called the video fake. The video was probably recorded by a prankster blogger with the nickname jewgazing, who looks like Thomas Crooks. After that, he hid his messages from readers on the social network X.
This is not a video of a construction worker at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally. This is the exact same X user who pretended to be shooter in an odd trolling attempt.
He put this video up for months and it was completely cancelled. It’s now shared as if it’s a message from the real shooter. https://t.co/ShDpQ1UxzNpic.twitter.com/S5wEqpu0QX
