This is reported by The Guardian. His accounts are now limited to the standard rules for users.
Additional safeguards were applied to the former president’s pages after the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
After being reinstated in January 2023, Trump’s accounts were subject to harsher penalties than other Meta users, including account freezes and advertising restrictions if he violated the company’s rules.
Meta noted that none of Trump’s official Instagram or Facebook accounts violated the company’s policies during the period of his restrictions, meaning his accounts never triggered those sanctions.
As noted, Mark Zuckerberg’s corporation “feels a responsibility to ensure that American citizens have the opportunity to listen to the political statements of presidential candidates on an equal basis.”
At the same time, the company reminded that it will punish anyone for using hate speech or inciting violence. In relation to Trump, the usual short-term suspensions will be applied for such violations, rather than longer ones.
The US Supreme Court ruled on July 1 that presidential candidate Donald Trump can claim immunity from prosecution in the Capitol riot case.
