In the Kharkov and Rivne regions, the Security Service detained three FSB saboteurs who set fire to cabinets on railway tracks. The SBU press service reported this on Friday, July 12.
It is reported that in this way the Russian Federation hopes to block the movement of trains with heavy weapons and ammunition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the direction of the front.
“To commit crimes, the defendants used flammable mixtures prepared in advance according to the instructions of the Russian special services,” the report said.
In Kharkov, an enemy saboteur who tried to destroy the relay cabinet of a railway traffic light on one of the main stages in the region was caught red-handed.
According to SBU counterintelligence, the attacker was a repeat offender from Odessa, who had previously served a sentence for robbery and attempted premeditated murder. After remote recruitment by the Russian special service, the defendant arrived in the Kharkov region to commit sabotage, the report said.
Two other detainees were unemployed residents of Rivne, who had been lured by the FSB into subversive activities against Ukraine.
“The attackers worked simultaneously one of them set fire to a relay cabinet that controls the operation of semaphores on one of the main railway lines in the western region of Ukraine then sent it for the FSB report,” the SBU report.
According to the Security Service, both agents came to the attention of Russian intelligence services as active users of Russian telegram channels in search of quick money.
“Further communication between the saboteurs and their handlers from the FSB took place through anonymous chats on instant messengers. If the enemy’s activities were completed, the invaders promised to transfer the rewards to the banks card of their henchmen,” the report said.
Detainees suspected of sabotage committed under martial law were declared.
The saboteurs are in custody and face life in prison.
