Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has revealed details of his recent trip to Moscow to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

    .

In an interview with a correspondent from the Swiss newspaper Weltwohe, Orban said that his trip to Russia, which took place two days after his visit to Kyiv, was prepared in secret.

I sent a secret message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs that he should organize something. Because telecommunications are under complete surveillance by other “serious guys”. And I tried to keep it as secret as possible, Orban said.

According to him, information about the visit to Russia leaked only when Hungary asked Poland to grant permission for its military aircraft to fly over its territory.

Orban said his talks with Putin lasted about three hours, and during the meeting he asked Putin three questions:

How does he feel about the existing proposals for ending the war in Ukraine?

Is he ready for a temporary ceasefire?

How does he envision the security architecture in Europe after the conflict?

According to the Hungarian prime minister, Putin responded that “real negotiations cannot begin without the participation of both sides.”

That is, everything we do without him means nothing. Which is quite logical, Orban said.

Putin also told Orban that he does not “feel optimistic about the possibility of a temporary truce” and that he allegedly has a plan for the situation in Europe after the war.

Hungary currently holds the presidency of the European Council. EU officials have condemned Orban’s visit to Moscow and said he does not have the authority to negotiate with Putin on behalf of the EU.
