The war has changed the balance of power in the Black Sea region, and the Russian fleet will never dominate it again, the president said.
Work is underway to create a new sea strategy – the Ukrainian Maritime Strategy. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in a video message on Saturday, July 6.
“We are working on a new strategy for our maritime state – the Ukrainian Maritime Strategy will soon be approved by the National Security and Defense Council – its points are being finalized,” he said.
The President noted a clear understanding that “the war changed the balance of power in our entire Black Sea region.”
“The entire fleet of Russia in this water area will no longer dominate our interests, taking into account Ukraine’s new technological capabilities and our new relations with partners,” Zelensky said.
According to him, “Ukraine will always be a state capable of protecting its own interests in the sea, transportation arteries and the interests of our allies and partners.”
“I am grateful to our people who provide it The Ukrainian Navy, all the involved structures of defense and security and the defense industry, state and private companies,” concluded the Ukrainian leader.
Earlier in the day, the Navy said the F-16s would help eliminate the Russian Federation’s advantage in the skies over the Black Sea. This may help Ukraine expand its shipping corridor.
