Higher education students of military age may be expelled if they refuse to undergo basic military training.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a corresponding resolution on June 21. According to it, the following categories may not undergo training:
- male students declared unfit for military service for health reasons;
- those who, before acquiring Ukrainian citizenship, completed military service in other states;
- those who have already completed military service;
- having a certificate of completion of basic training and obtaining a military specialty.
According to government decree No. 734 of June 21, basic combined arms training is provided to male citizens of Ukraine (female – voluntarily), studying on a full-time or dual form of education, as well as cadets of higher military educational institutions, military educational units of higher education, cadets of higher educational institutions. institutions with specific training conditions that train police officers, police officers undergoing primary professional training in educational institutions with specific training conditions that train police officers.
After successful completion of basic training, citizens of Ukraine take the military oath and receive a certificate of completion of basic training and acquisition of a military specialty.
