A conference of ambassadors of countries that joined the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia will be held in Jakarta.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasily Gamyanin, who is also Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will speak for the first time at a special event of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia in Jakarta. The diplomat said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“An important event will take place in Jakarta on June 26 for the first time – a conference of ambassadors of countries that joined the TAC – Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia,” he said.
Gamyanin explained that in 2022 Ukraine will become the 50th country to sign this agreement. However, not all states that joined are ASEAN partners.
“This year, the member countries decided that somehow it was wrong that the states that agreed to the Treaty did not take part in any events, and for the first time they organized a special event for everyone of signatory countries the opportunity to speak. “We are working.”
The diplomat mentioned that many effective projects can be promoted through ASEAN. “We have already begun to do this in information technology, food security, and maintaining peace in the region. So the more Ukraine is in ASEAN, the less Russia will stay there,” he emphasized.
Let’s recall that in November 2022, during a visit to Cambodia, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba signed an Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia on behalf of Ukraine.
