The Foreign Minister outlined the negotiation process and subsequent steps for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

After the completion of EU accession negotiations, Ukraine is three steps away from full membership in the European Union. This was announced on Monday, June 24, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba.

According to him, these three steps are:

  1. Conclusion of the European Commission on the successful completion of negotiations and Ukraine’s achievement of compliance with the accession criteria;

  2. Decision on signing the Agreement on the accession of Ukraine to the EU;

  3. Ratification of the agreement by the parliaments of the EU member states and Ukraine that gained full membership in the European Union.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Ukraine’s accession to the EU is an event of global importance for Europe.

“Tomorrow there will be an inaugural part, then there will be six clusters of negotiations that will open and close, these will be specialists in relevant industries to work and bring Ukrainian legislation in line with the standards of the EU,” said Kuleba.

It should be noted that the experience of other countries shows that the negotiation process can take many years.

Earlier, the Council of the EU reported that negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU will begin on June 25.
