Until the F-16s arrive, Russia is trying to expand the geography of battles as much as possible, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated on June 17 by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.
He said that fierce fighting continues in the areas of Glubokoye, Vremenny Yar, Staromayorsk, Robotinoy, Krynoki and the islands in the coastal part of the left bank of the Dnieper.
The enemy is well aware that as a result of the gradual arrival of a significant amount of weapons and military equipment from our partners, the arrival of the first F-16s, which will strengthen the air defense, time will play in our favor, and his chances of success will decrease,” he wrote in a telegram.
Therefore, according to Syrsky, the command of the Russian forces is now making every effort to increase the intensity and expand the geography of combat operations in order to maximally deplete the Ukrainian troops, disrupt the preparation of reserves, and prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from switching to active offensive operations.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted on June 9 that Russia’s current 60,000 reserves would likely “be insufficient to support simultaneous large-scale offensive efforts on multiple fronts.”
