Estonia plans to take a defense loan up to 3.6 billion euro

“Estonia is interested in getting a loan. The Ministry of Defense has prepared and sent a preliminary application for a loan to the European Commission, but this whole process is in a relatively early stage,” he said.

It has been reported that the exact amount of loan has not been determined, as well as the deadline for its payment. The loan can take up to 45 years.

When it is received in the support of the European Commission, Estonia also expects to gain a more desirable interest rate and save every billion euros of about € 4 million a year.

As the head of the NATO and EU Department of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia Kalle Kirsss, the defense loan is planned to be used to buy anti-aircraft for middle and low air ranges, artillery shells and other ammunition, infantry battle vehicles, as well as to replenish the weapons of the Naval Naval forces Republic.
