The G7 includes Italy, Germany, Great Britain, USA, Canada, France and Japan. On the sidelines of this summit, Ukraine signed two important agreements simultaneously.
The main result of the G7 summit for Ukraine was the receipt of more air defense assets to protect Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this on Friday, June 14, in an evening speech.
“There will be more air defense for our cities. There will be more equipment and other necessary things for the front. 50 billion dollars,” he emphasized.
As the President of Ukraine noted, almost all the meetings at the G7 summit were focused on exactly what the Ukrainian military was talking about – about the Ukrainian needs and about our capabilities today if those are sufficient and up-to-date supply.
“We are talking with all the leaders about speeding up the delivery of the announced packages to Ukraine,” Zelensky added.
Zelensky also announced new support from Canada. In addition, the UK promises increased support.
“I also had a good meeting with Giorgia Maloney, the Head of the Council of Ministers of Italy, thank you, Georgia, for this significant summit and for all the support for Ukraine – for the Ukrainians, for the protection of our children, families in Ukraine, all people’s lives are under attack from Russian terrorism,” added Vladimir Zelensky.
During the summit on June 13, the G7 countries made progress on the issue of using frozen assets of the Russian Federation in favor of Ukraine.
