Kazakhstan maintains equally close political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations with both Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the Foreign Ministry said.
Kazakhstan has not yet decided whether the country will participate in the Peace Summit in Ukraine, which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“Our state’s participation in this summit is still unknown,” he told reporters.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Kazakhstan’s participation in the summit will be considered taking into account the schedule of international events and the country’s official position on this issue.
“Kazakhstan has historically maintained equally close political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations with both Ukraine and Russia,” Smadiyarov said.
Let’s recall that earlier Hungary changed its mind about the Peace Summit in Switzerland and announced that it would attend the event.
As you know, on June 15-16, Switzerland will host a global peace summit, initiated by Ukraine. Leaders from 160 countries are invited to the event. More than 100 countries and organizations have confirmed their participation.
The conference will build on previous discussions, particularly on the Ukrainian Peace Formula and other peace proposals based on the UN Charter and basic principles of international law.
Russia and China are using mass opposition to holding the Peace Summit, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
