The enemy was most interested in information about higher military educational institutions in both regions: in what mode they operate, whether personnel have been redeployed, etc.
The occupiers also tried to scout out the locations of hospitals and other medical institutions where Defense Force soldiers are being treated.
To obtain intelligence data, the Russian intelligence service brought in its agent, a 19-year-old resident of Odessa. The young man was looking for quick money on the Internet and came to the attention of the FSB.
At the direction of the occupiers, he walked around several locations in the regional center every day to find out if there were Ukrainian military personnel there.
Being near the “needed” object, the informant observed its perimeter and checkpoints, and also took corresponding photographs.
The agent reported to his Russian supervisor about all the information received via messenger.
Subsequently, the FSB “sent” its agent to the Zhitomir region, where he continued to spy using the proven algorithm.
If the coordinates of potential targets were confirmed, the invaders planned to carry out missile and drone strikes against them.
The SBU detained the traitor when he was conducting reconnaissance near a facility in Zhitomir. The Security Service also took comprehensive measures to secure the locations where Ukrainian defenders are based.
According to the investigation, the defendant was in remote communication with a personnel officer of the FSB department for Moscow and the Moscow region. His identity has already been established by the Security Service.
For each completed task, he promised his agent a monetary reward. The funds were supposed to go to the informant’s bank card.
Security Service investigators informed the defendant of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law). The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
