Last year, the number of Bundeswehr was about 182 thousand military personnel, and reservists – 34 thousand.

The German Ministry of Defense wants to increase the number of reservists of the armed forces (Bundeswehr) to 60 thousand people. This was announced on Sunday, June 9, by the Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Alexander Hoppe, writes Zeit.

He noted that reservists would be trained and armed, as during the Cold War, and that the army should include both men and women.

“It won’t work without reserve as we see it in everyone’s head. Structures must be integrated with active forces.

Hoppe added that the reserve will be adapted to current security policy challenges so that it can adequately support the Bundeswehr in carrying out national and NATO defense missions.

Let’s remember that the Bundeswehr said that Russia could be ready to attack NATO countries in five to eight years.

Earlier, the media wrote that the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) was preparing for a possible conflict between Russia and NATO and modeled a scenario of a Russian attack on NATO.
