Additional details of the circumstances surrounding the death of 32-year-old military serviceman Sergei Kovalchuk have become known. Zhytomyr Regional TCC and SP reported it.
It is indicated that on May 28, a man with signs of alcohol intoxication was brought to the 2nd department of the Zvyagel RTTC and SP to undergo a military medical commission.
“Due to the condition of arrival, a decision was made to send the specified citizen home however, he requested to stay at the location of the security company, because he lives by himself and because of his poor health as a result of drinking. A few hours after waking up, the man called his relatives, informed them of his intention and confirmed that no illegal action had been taken against him,” the statement said.
It is said that on the morning of May 29, the man had his first epileptic seizure, during which he fell backwards onto the tiled floor and hit his head. He was given medical aid and an ambulance was called. Not long after, the man had a second epileptic seizure. Doctors provided qualified assistance and he was hospitalized.
After four days in the hospital, the man died on June 2. These events were registered by the police.
“It is preliminarily established that the person liable for military service received injuries from a fall during an epileptic attack and the provision of medical care. Based on the current situation, it can be assumed that some individuals defaming a socially sensitive topic, trying to disrupt mobilization measures, and manipulating public opinion,” added the TCC.
We remind you that on June 5 it became known that in the Zhytomyr region a man died after being in the TCC. The investigative team at the scene classified the incident as self-mutilation.
Later it became known about the protests in the village of Baranovka, where Sergei Kovalchuk was buried. His family said the man was beaten in the local TCC regional department. The police have started a pre-trial investigation.
