Ukraine could use German weapons to strike targets in Russia, but the decision on the Taurus needs to be discussed with its allies.

The Voice of America writes about this.
We will act carefully. We carefully weigh all the risks,” added Scholz. “I support this as Chancellor, committed to the peace and security of Germany.”
German Chancellor Scholz on June 6 reiterated his position that Ukraine could use Western weapons to defend against attacks from Russian territory, such as those that Russia is launching into the Kharkov region across the border with Ukraine.
Kremlin dictator Putin again threatened on June 5 that allowing Ukraine to attack Russia with Western weapons represented a significant escalation that could bring the West closer to direct conflict with Russia.
The official change in German policy occurred in parallel with a change in the corresponding policy of the United States, which recently also allowed Ukraine to use American weapons for strikes along the borders with the Russian Federation, but not deep into Russian territory.
Germany and Chancellor Scholz have so far refused to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles capable of hitting targets deep inside Russian territory. Other allies of Ukraine, such as Great Britain and France, have provided Kyiv with their own equivalents of long-range missiles.
According to Scholz, he is responsible for ensuring that “not a single child born in Germany today ever experiences war in our country. This is my absolute priority,” DPA quotes.
In his June 6 speech, Scholz added that Germany should consult its partners and allies “again and again and again” before making such far-reaching decisions.
Two German weapons systems are being considered for attacks on the Russian army on recognized Russian territory – the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzer and the Mars II armored multiple launch rocket system.
The radius over which the Ukrainian Armed Forces can strike with German weapons on Russian territory is small: the maximum zone for hitting targets abroad is no more than 40 km. At the same time, the German government is in no hurry to transfer truly long-range weapons to Kyiv – such as Taurus cruise missiles (destruction range – 500 km).
