“As an artist, I always want to convey the message of freedom and personal power”
“Understanding that nurturing harmful relationships is like trying to fill broken vessels. In environments where our value is not recognized, our affection and presence should not be offered. The composition reflects on relationships that raise ‘red flags’ and alert us to behaviors that require our attention and distance”, he explains.
The song addresses deep and current themes, from toxic relationships to the need to move away from harmful situations. The song stands out for its bass line and the use of synthesizers, which grow from the first seconds, creating a hypnotic atmosphere that invites the listener on an introspective journey.
The creation process was a true emotional exorcism, according to the artist himself. Written in just one day, each verse of the song brings up personal issues that Rafael needed to externalize. “My creative process is often born out of crises or very intense feelings – whether it’s an outburst or a celebration – and ends up being a very therapeutic process. It’s liberating.”
Closing the entire creative cycle, the single cover (above) also carries a significant emotional charge for Rafael. Inspired by Madonna’s Copacabana show, he found the clarity he needed to resume his self-expression. According to him, the event sparked several reflections that helped him create and photograph a cover that connects with the idea of ”Escape”.
“As an artist, I always want to convey the message of freedom and personal power, so that people can freely express themselves as they identify,” he concludes.
