Poland’s digitization minister said the government has taken steps to improve cybersecurity ahead of voting in the European Parliament elections.
Poland’s government has announced plans to spend 3 billion zlotys ($760 million) to strengthen cybersecurity after recent attacks on the country’s main government news feed allegedly carried out by Russian hackers, reports by Bloomberg.
The ruling coalition has reportedly made cybersecurity a campaign priority for next weekend’s European Parliament elections.
Digitalization Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the government had taken steps to improve cybersecurity ahead of the vote, adding that a recent coordinated attack on critical infrastructure had been thwarted.
Let’s recall that on May 31 it was reported that hackers hacked the website of a Polish news agency and “announced” the mobilization. The PAP deleted these messages, published a denial, and the Polish government noted that it was a hacker attack by the Russian Federation.
