President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with Singaporean leader Tharman Shanmugaratnam and discussed prospects for deepening bilateral relations. The press service of the Ukrainian leader reported this on June 2.
“The Ukrainian head of state thanked Singapore for its clear position in condemning the Russian aggression, supporting the sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation and the humanitarian assistance provided,” the Office of the President said.
Zelensky also informed his colleague about the preparations for the first Global Peace Summit, and mentioned “the importance of the representation of all continents, the participation of all countries that respect international law and strive to restore a just, comprehensive and lasting peace.”
In addition, the head of state thanked Singapore for its help in developing human potential and the capabilities of the public service sector in Ukraine.
Separately, he noted the interest of the Ukrainian side in taking cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to a new level.
Let’s recall that on June 1, Zelensky arrived in Singapore to participate in the Shangri-La Dialogue conference, a major platform for security topics in the Asia-Pacific region.
On the sidelines of the summit, he discussed key issues of Ukrainian defense with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin.
