The National Police brigade “Lyut” photographed in detail from the air the ruins into which Volchansk, a city where 19 thousand inhabitants lived before the war, turned into during a month of fighting.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces control about 70% of the city of Volchansk. There are fierce battles with the occupiers in the city and its environs,” Nazar Voloshin, a representative of the Khortitsa operational-strategic group of troops, told LIGA.net.
According to Voloshin, in the direction of Liptsy the invaders do not change tactics, continuing to advance in small assault groups. At the same time, they are unable to gain a foothold in new territories.
The Ukrainian military counterattacked in Volchansk and repelled several neighborhoods. This was reported by Bild open data analysis expert Julian Röpke.
In mid-May, Russian troops occupied the northern part of the city and several central blocks. In recent days, Ukrainian defenders managed to partially dislodge them from the center.
Already about a quarter of the city’s territory is under unambiguous Russian control. A week ago it was almost half.
The Russians are increasingly resorting to the destruction of the city with the help of MLRS, heavy artillery and glide bombs dropped from a distance, notes Roepke.
According to him, to the west of Volchanskoe, the invaders captured about half of the village of Staritsa.
In other directions, their progress slowed down.
The situation in the Kharkov direction is under control, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on June 2. There was only one assault attempt in the area of the village of Staritsa. However, the Russians continue to bomb border guards. Aviation dropped 16 KABs in the areas of Volchansk, Stary Saltov, Neskuchny, Staritsa, Ivanovka and Beloye Kolodets.
