the defendant is hiding in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine comprehensive measures are ongoing to find and punish him.
The security service documented the war crimes of a henchman of the occupiers from the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region. We are talking about a former officer of the disbanded local police unit, who supported the entire invasion of the Russian Federation – Igor Okhrimenko. The SBU reported this on May 30.
It was noted that after the capture of Starobelsky, the defendant began to cooperate with the Russians, and in June 2022, with the agreement of the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation, he was appointed the head of the labor prison. In fact, this institution functioned as a torture chamber where members of the regional resistance movement were taken.
According to the investigation, Okhrimenko organized the security of the cells and the perimeter of the Russian prison where the kidnapped people were kept. In addition, the defendant personally participated in many of the tortures that took place in the torture chambers.
Illegal prisoners were kept for long periods of time without food or water, and they were also simulated to death. Thus, Okhrimenko “pushed” the consent of the victims to cooperate with the occupiers.
Subsequently, he was appointed head of another job “pre-trial detention center” in temporarily captured Lugansk, where he continued to participate in repressions against local residents.
The defendant was informed in absentia of the suspicion of cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed by the prior conspiracy of a group of people.
Since he is hiding in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine, comprehensive measures are underway to find and punish him.
We remind you that the SBU recognized another Russian war criminal who tortured Ukrainian police officers during the occupation of the Kupyansky district in the Kharkov region.
It was also reported that an indictment was submitted to the court against an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who was charged with violating the laws and customs of war, committed by a prior conspiracy of a group of people. The Russian was accused of organizing brutal interrogations and torture in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kharkov region.
