According to media reports, the tragedy occurred in the district of Kassel (Hesse) on the night of April 26-27. The family found the girl unconscious in her room. The emergency doctor called was only able to ascertain the death of the child. The teenagers found several videos on their mobile phones indicating their participation in the Blackout Challenge.
In an interview with radio station FFH, the girl’s mother urged other parents to be attentive to what content their children consume. According to the woman, one should understand how dangerous the TikTok platform can be.
Several children and young people around the world have already died due to the Blackout Challenge.
In particular, two schoolchildren recently died in Lower Saxony. In the UK, the boy fell into a coma and subsequently died.
Even earlier, the TikTok platform was criticized for another dangerous challenge – the Salt Chip Challenge. Its participants ate particularly spicy chips and filmed themselves. The EU has launched an official investigation into TikTok.
