The total battle losses of Russian troops from February 24, 2022 to May 17, 2024 are about 489,870 (+1410 on the previous day, May 16) killed. This data was provided on the morning of May 17 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian defenders destroyed a record number of enemy fighters in one day on May 12 – then 1,740 soldiers of the Russian Army were eliminated.
