The Ukrayinska Pravda publication spoke about the role of these drones.
“February” accounts for up to 80% of all accurate hits on Russian refineries. Although he is not the only one, said interlocutors involved in the use of drones.
According to them, in addition to the mentioned drone, other drones were also used in operations, in particular, “Ninja”, which recently hit a refinery at a distance of 1,500 kilometers. However, in the price/quality/range/accuracy ratio, “February” still holds a confident lead.
At the end of August 2023, the first batch of February attack drones was manufactured in Ukraine. They were distributed among specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Security Service of Ukraine, where the drones soon proved their potential.
As of May 2024, according to the UP, not only various kinds of special and intelligence services operate “February”. Even the Ukrainian Air Force recently placed a large order for drones and is already preparing operators for them.
Such mass production and operation of drones has made it possible to begin planning large-scale joint operations in which several structures are simultaneously involved.
The most high-profile joint operations of several services immediately became attacks on oil refineries in Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, and Tatarstan.
The choice of targets is not accidental: behind this is the work of analysts, intelligence officers and pilots planning flight routes to objects.
I receive a description of the target on 15-20 A4 pages, where everything is written out down to the last detail: where the drone should hit, so that I no longer fantasize. It’s the same story with air defense, satellite images, radar data and the like,” says one of the pilots.
Ukraine primarily hits processing and export terminals. It is these facilities that create added value and provide income from extracted oil.
