Nearly two-thirds of cyber-espionage targets involve NATO members. The United States was the main target, followed by Poland.
Since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine, attacks by Russian hackers against the governments, think tanks and businesses of Ukraine’s 42 allied countries have been recorded. This was reported by the press service of Microsoft.
According to Microsoft President Brad Smith, RF hackers are successful 29% of the time.
It was noted that nearly two-thirds of cyber espionage targets involve NATO members. The United States was the main target, followed by Poland. In addition, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Turkey have suffered hacker attacks in recent months.
The exception is Estonia, where Microsoft has not detected a Russian cyberattack since February 24th. The company believes Estonia has implemented cloud computing, which makes it easier to identify intruders.
Microsoft stressed that Ukraine’s cyber defense has become stronger overall than Russia’s capabilities. Cybercriminals from the Russian Federation are careful not to release destructive viruses that destroy data outside Ukraine, as happened with the NotPetya virus in 2017.
Recall that the United States announced the elimination of a powerful Russian botnet network.
It was also reported that Russian hackers carried out cyberattack on Ukrainian state organizations.
