In the actions of former SBU general Andrei Naumov, they found signs of corruption worth 33 million hryvnias.
Based on the results of lifestyle monitoring, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption found signs of a criminal offense of corruption by the former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU Andrey Naumov in the amount of more than 32.7 million hryvnias. The NAPC press service reported this on Monday, April 29.
The basis of the monitoring was a letter from the State Bureau of Investigation regarding the possible illegal enrichment of an official.
In June 2022, at the Presevo border checkpoint at the exit from Serbia, property hidden from customs control was discovered in a BMW X6 xDrive40d driven by Naumov, namely:
-
592,990 euros (21,940,630 hryvnias);
-
120,102 dollars (4,203,570 hryvnias);
-
two emeralds for 6,380 euros each (472,120 hryvnias).
Then Naumov explained that the property found in the car belonged to his relatives, in particular, part of the money was taken by his father from a friend. However, NAPC learned that his father could not afford to borrow such funds.
In addition, Naumov himself also did not have such income from legal sources to buy foreign currency and emeralds, which he tried to hide when crossing the Serbian state border.
Also, the NACP did not establish the legal sources of funds for the purchase of a BMW X6 xDrive40d worth 116,022 euros (3,875,135 hryvnia) and a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (2,234,700 hryvnia), registered to the common-law spouse of a former SBU employee and his father.
The materials on Naumov were sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General to be included in the materials of the criminal proceedings, conducting a pre-trial investigation and bringing him to criminal responsibility.
Let’s recall that in January, former SBU general Naumov, accused of money laundering, was released from a Serbian prison.
