Five people have become victims of a powerful tornado that has engulfed the city of Guangzhou in China. Another 33 people were injured. This was reported on Saturday, April 27, by the state news agency Xinhua, citing local authorities.
It was noted that a tornado hit the Baiyun urban area on the afternoon of April 27. Rescuers, firefighters and doctors were dispatched there.
Search and rescue operations have been completed. The victims were sent to hospitals. Authorities said 141 factory buildings were destroyed, but residential buildings survived.
According to the local weather bureau, the tornado has a level three intensity. The wind is over 20 m/sec. Rain is expected in the province for the next five days.
A video also appeared on social networks of a city being “bombed” by huge hailstones.
