Chisinau warns that the grouping around Shor is the main tool used by Moscow to destabilize the interior of Moldova.
Moldova’s pro-Russian parties gathered in Moscow to unite in the “Victory” political bloc. Thus, they seek to prevent entry into the EU and remove the country’s current leadership from power. Bloomberg wrote this on Sunday, April 21.
The bloc is said to be linked to fugitive Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Moldova.
The bloc includes representatives of the pro-Russian opposition – the Revival, Chance, Alternative and Salvation Forces of Moldova and Victorie parties. In particular, he was accompanied by the head of the Gagauzia region, Eugenia Gutsul, who is planning to participate in the upcoming elections in Moldova.
“We are united to protect the independence of Moldova, prevent our country from being drawn into the conflict, preserve our traditional values and continue friendship with Russia,” said Hutsul, speaking at the Victory congress.
For the Russian newspaper, the event was called “a congress of Moldovan politicians supporting the accession of Chisinau to the EAEU,” and in his social networks Ilan Shor described the meeting as “a unity of the opposition .” The event ended with a performance by Nikolai Baskov and Philip Kirkorov.
The Moldovan authorities reacted to the creation of the bloc and warned that “the isolation around Shor is the main tool used by Moscow to try to destabilize the country.”
According to the country’s intelligence services, this group is the main source of anti-European disinformation.
“The whole country saw the traitors to the country in Moscow. They were created in Moscow, near the Kremlin, to make it clear who they work for and who they serve,” said Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of. Moldova.
The country has three elections scheduled for 2025: parliamentary elections will take place in the summer, and in October citizens will elect a new president and vote in a pro-European constitutional referendum.
It was previously reported that the European Union has started the procedure of screening the Moldovan law, which is mandatory when a candidate country joins the EU.
Let’s recall that the Parliament of Moldova, in a meeting on April 12, approved in the second reading the decision to terminate the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE).
