The city mayor’s office has received “hundreds of messages from Milanese residents asking for something to be done to help them sleep better at night.”

City officials in Milan, Italy are proposing to ban the sale of takeaway food after midnight to combat “wild nightlife” in some areas of the city. In particular, the ban will apply to ice cream. The Guardian writes about it on Sunday, April 21.

The ban will strike a balance between “friendship and entertainment, the peace and health of residents, as well as the free economic activity of merchants and entrepreneurs who provide jobs,” explained the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety which is Marco Granelli.

The ban on the sale of takeaway food after midnight will be in effect from May 17 to November 4 every day in the city’s busiest areas, the official said.

Marco Granelli clarified that takeaway sales will be banned in the areas of Brera and Ticinese up to Darsena, Arco della Pace and Lazzaretto, Corso Como and Garibaldi. Street vendors, on the other hand, have to stop their activities from 20.00 every day.

In addition, bars and restaurants will also have to close their outdoor areas from 00.30 on weekdays and from 1.30 at weekends.

At the same time, the publication points out that gathering for ice cream at midnight is “such an important” part of Italian culture that the prospect of banning it is unacceptable to many.

In Florida, children will be banned from using social networks. The ban applies to anyone under 14 years of age.

Electric scooter rentals will be banned in Paris from September 1. Thus, Paris will be the first European capital to ban electric scooter rentals.
