The Netherlands is allocating more than 200 million euros to new initiatives to deliver air defense equipment and artillery ammunition to Kyiv. This was said by the head of the Dutch Ministry of Defense, Kaisa Ollongren, at a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on April 19, the Dutch Ministry of Defense reports.
According to Ollongren, Ukraine urgently needs air defense systems and artillery ammunition, because “the situation is becoming critical.”
“The funds currently provided by the Netherlands are on the European continent and will be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible. Now we must do everything to support Ukraine,” he said.
Reportedly, 150 million euros from the package will go to support Germany’s initiative to find air defense capabilities for Ukraine. Another 60 million euros will be spent on the purchase of short-range air defense systems, which can be used, in particular, to counter drones.
In addition, the Dutch Ministry of Defense supports Estonia’s initiative to quickly deliver artillery ammunition to Ukraine from existing stocks, and previously provided 250 million euros to the Czech initiative for the purchase of shells.
We remind you that the Dutch authorities have allocated additional financial resources for the needs of Ukraine. An additional 4.4 billion euros will be allocated for military and humanitarian support to Ukraine in the period 2024-2026.
In the past, the Netherlands allocated an additional 1 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine. Another 400 million euros will be allocated to rebuild our country.
