Zack Snyder reveals that Leonardo DiCaprio was almost Lex Luthor in ‘Batman vs. Super man’

To the surprise of fans, Zack Snyder revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio was considered to play Lex Luthor in the old DCU films; understand!

In an interview with the podcast “Happy, Sad, Confused”, the director Zack Snyder surprised DC fans by revealing that Leonardo DiCaprio was wanted to play Lex Luthor in ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’, released in 2016. However, according to the filmmaker, the conversations did not go ahead and Jesse Eisenberg won the role.

“I spoke to DiCaprio about the role. He had a lot of great ideas, but in the end he was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know’… He had really clever ideas for the film and the character. He was the one who gave me the idea for the role. Superman faces the Justice League at some point,” revealed Zack.

With the role of Lex Luthor, Jesse Eisenberg did not have many appearances in the old DC Extended Universe, since, after his debut in 2016, he only made a short appearance in the post-credits scene of ‘Justice League’, in 2017. The character had his last appearance in the franchise in the version in Zack Snyder from the same film, released in 2021.

It is worth remembering that the old DC Extended Universe was discontinued, and the new DCU will begin with the feature film ‘Superman’, scheduled for July 2025. This time, starring David Corenswet in the title role, and antagonized by Nicholas Houltlike the iconic Lex Luthor.
